Medieval Ring Restoration

Original ring with damaged, empty setting.

On being gifted this medieval gold ring our customer was on the hunt for a jeweller to restore the ring and set a stone in the damaged setting. We were recommended to him and he brought the ring in for us to take a look at.

Further inspection of the ring showed that, though there was damage to the setting and to the shank, the ring was definitely salvageable

The original stone was thought to have been a cabochon garnet and as our customer liked the idea of a garnet we decided to go with this plan.

A garnet would have to be cut to fit the restored setting and the shank would need to be re-shaped and strengthened to ensure the ring was wearable once the work was completed.

The completed ring with a custom cut Garnet and now ready to wear.
