How to care for your jewellery

The safest place to store your jewellery when you are not wearing it, is to keep it in a jewellery box, this reduces the chances of it getting damaged or lost. You should take your jewellery off when going to the gym, swimming, showering and going to bed so that you avoid injury to yourself or to any of your pieces.

The build up of everyday grime from hand creams, soap and dead skin not only makes your jewellery look dull and your stones lose their sparkle but can also easily attract bacteria and cause irritation to your skin. We offer a clean and polish service starting from £25 per item that will bring your items up like new, getting rid of any dirt and polishing to remove any fine scratches in the metal.

Keeping on top of maintenance such as checking the claws and the settings holding your stones in or clasps on bracelets and necklaces is also very important. You can easily check this yourself, however, if you’re not sure what you’re looking for just bring your items into either one of our stores and we can check them over for you at no charge and give you a quote if there is any work that needs doing.

Pearls should be worn often; they absorb the natural oils and moisture from your skin when being worn improving their luster and glow. Always make sure to not spray perfume or hair spray onto your pearls, the harsh chemicals will erode the surface and decrease their luster. Wipe your pearls with a damp cloth after wearing and lay them flat, you should not hang a pearl necklace as this will damage and stretch the silk.

You can clean your jewellery at home! You don’t have to bring it in every time it needs a quick clean, the use of a polishing cloth and silver or gold dipping solution can be used to remove any tarnishing of the metal and can be bought from us in store.
